Why don't more smartwatches use this smart ring's seemingly obvious trick?

Why don't more smartwatches use this smart ring's seemingly obvious trick? Ultrahuman is adding a new Smart Alarm feature reminiscent of Fitbit's Smart Wake feature, and I'd love to see it spread to more watches.
